The Wilderness Lodge

If you asked me what my favorite resort at Walt Disney World is, I would have to say that it is the Wilderness Lodge. Mind you, the only other Deluxe category resort I’ve ever stayed at was the Grand Floridian for one night. But as you can see, the Wilderness Lodge is absolutely stunning!

The Wilderness Lodge opened on May 28, 1994 and is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area on Bay Lake, near the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, a Disney Vacation Club Timeshare resort located on the site, opened in November 2000. The design of the resort is based on the National Park lodges of America’s Pacific Northwest and was designed by Peter Dominick, while the villas are themed to resemble the late 19th century lodgings of the transcontinental railroad workersork. The main building was modeled after the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park, and an artificial geyser and hot springs are located on the resort grounds. In late 2015, Disney began a project to create waterside villas similar to those at the Polynesian Village Resort.

What’s your favorite Walt Disney World resort property and why?
